CCAR GALA 2017 - Metropolitan CluB, New York City
CCAR hosted GALA 2017: a Black-Tie Gala Dinner in New York City on October 24. More than 300 guests attended from across Canada and the United States. The Awards for Distinguished Contributions to the Arts in Canada and the United States were presented to Frank Stella, American Master and one of the most inventive artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and Hilary M. Weston, Canadian businesswoman, patron and philanthropist. CCAR’s Award of Service was presented to groundbreaking Canadian filmmaker Norman Jewison. The evening’s presenters were Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, MoMA Director Glenn Lowry and Oscar-winner John Patrick Shanley. As a result of the evening, CCAR provided cash grants to arts organizations selected by the evening’s honorees: the Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover, MA; American Film Institute (AFI) Los Angeles, CA; Canadian Film Centre (CFC), Toronto, ON; Kenojuak Cultural Centre and Print Shop, Cape Dorset, NU. GALA 2017 marked the cornerstone celebration of the 150th anniversary of Canada in the United States.

40th Anniversary Gala
CCAR celebrated 40 years of achievement at a Black-Tie Gala Dinner in New York City on April 30, 2014. More than 300 guests attended from across Canada and the United States. The inaugural Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Arts in Canada and the United States were presented to Canadian arts patron Jacqueline Desmarais and to Canadian-American architect and design visionary Frank Gehry. The event was held under the High Patronage of the Ambassador of Canada to the United States and the Ambassador of the United States to Canada, who also presented the Awards to each recipient.
